The I.P.D. Orthopaedic Centre was inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1960. The Institution was established in memory of Iswari Prasad Dattatreya, a cerebral palsy child, by his parents Sri & Srimathi Hanumantha Rao with an initial corpus of Rs. 1 Lakh. With the eradication of Polio, the centre has shifted its focus to working with the mentally challenged. The institution has now grown into a rehabilitation centre with residential facilities for physically and mentally challenged children and adults with over a 100 residents.
